Tourists sights - Felsőcsatár

FelsőcsatárThe village is situated not far from the hungarian border on the main road Nr. 89 or from the village of Nárai-Pornóapáti. The settlement with its 480 – mainly croatian nationality – inhabitatnts practiced viniculture since the Middle Ages and belongs to the wine fields of Sopron. It was mentioned first in the 17th century.

In 1921 the commitment of Trianon attached the village firstly to ustria, but thanks to the demonstration of the inhabitants, the region was gave back to Hungary in March 1923.

Beside the in classicism-styled reconstructed St. Michael church, the mill is worth mentioning, which is situated on the Pinka’s riverside. Visitors can find some old intimate winecellars on the Vas-Mountain. A zion is hiding between them, it also called as Zion of Virgin Maria. Felsőcsatár has a romantic location – like a kettle – thanks to the valley of the Pinka. The village offers a calm vacation for all generation by means of its natural environment and its famous vineyards.
