| Tourists sights - Belvedere Írottkő |
Az Írott-kő (Geschriebenstein in german) is the highest peak both of Transdanubia and the mountains of Kőszeg.Firstly it was mentioned in the 14th century. In that time the peak was called Pine- mountain, buti t was changed to Spearstone in the 17th century. It got its present name from the borderstone between the proprieties of the families Batthyány – Eszterházy according to the presumptions. There was built the first belvedere, a wooden tower, in 1891 and it could be visited till 1909. The Hungarian-Austrian borderline runs across the stone-belvedere built in 1913, which is recognized by a borderstone in the middle of the tower. The entrance of the belvedere opens from Austria. In 2003 there was opened a border crossing point for the tourists on bike and foot. It was crossable from spring to autumn between 10 am – 6 pm till our attendance to the Schengen-zone. Besides the belvedere there you can find the final westend point of the National Bluetour. Resource: www.wikipedia.hu |
