The town – also called as the gate of Őrség - is situated in 27 km from Szombathely on the shore of the river Rába. The Batthyany castle and its garden is emerged from the sights of the town. br />
The castle belonged to the Batthyany family from the 17th century and later – during the 18th century – was reconstructed according to the plan of the famous architect, Donato Felice de Allio. In the main building of the castle works today a museum, in the one-time riding arena functioned as theater and an unexamled shoecollection is also waiting for the interesting visitors. The garden is protected since 1958 because of the 70 kind of special trees and plants. It has one of the highest valued plant substance in the county. The most famous piece of it is the 200 years old sicamore with its 7,8 meter perimeter and its 35 meter heights.
