Nadasdy Castle is one of the most prominent national monument in Hungary and the symbol of Sárvár. The castle was mentioned first in 1288. The most greatest constructions were gone in the 15th century. While theese years were the barbican built. In the 16th century was set the closed yard and a bund dyke was responsible for the defense. The castle belonged to the Nadasdy family between 1534 and 1671. The renaissance styled form was worked out by this time and it stayed in it since than.

The murals in the assembly hall was painted by Hans Rudolph Miller in 1653. The paintings in old testament themes on the lateral wall was created by István Dorfmesiter in 1769. Archduke Ferdinand bought the castle in 1803 and reconstructred it. There were bulit some corridors, so the castle would be circled. The water in the moat was drawn and the bridge was constitued.
